The $4,000 Palworld card sells for $1,000 now

The $3,998 headline came from one eBay listing marked sold, three days before the set hit shelves. Forty-one completed sales later, the all-gold Cattiva is a $1,000 card.

Dexerto ran it first, then GamesRadar+, then TechTimes: the all-gold Cattiva "Soul," the SSS chase tied to BP01 "Dawn of Palpagos," selling four figures before the Palworld OFFICIAL CARD GAME was on a single shelf. Underneath all of it sat one eBay listing marked sold at $3,997.98 on July 27. A tracker Dexerto checked had the card at $2,000, off what Dexerto described as "a single community sale it reviewed."

That is the problem with day-one prices: n = 1.

A week later, there is a better number. Our Soul (ESOUL-002) page heads the card at $999.99 — the median of 41 completed English-market sales inside the last seven days. Not a listing, not one print: forty-one receipts. The $4,000 card was a $1,000 card almost before the headlines finished publishing.

Launch prints vs. this week's market

Dexerto's July 31 piece named launch sales for several other chase cards. Here is each one against the seven-day sold median on its card page:

Four of five landed well below their launch prints. Credit where due on the fifth: whoever paid $374.98 for a Lyleen SSP at launch bought at what turned out to be this week's price.

One honesty note on those medians. The newest English single sale in our ledger is from August 3, and our daily snapshots only began that day. As launch-week receipts kept landing, the medians settled lower than our first snapshot showed — Jormuntide Ignis SSP read $475 on 25 sales on August 3 and reads $450 on 32 today. That is the launch-week picture sharpening as the sample fills in, not two days of live trading, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Meanwhile, sealed went the other way

A booster box that buyers told PalMods they preordered around $45 now has a $170 median across 209 sales.

English BP01 cartons (twelve booster boxes each) trade at a $1,850 median, and 99 of the 112 English carton sales we have banked landed inside the last seven days.
Japanese cartons climbed from $460 to $513 across our three daily snapshots, on a growing sample at medium confidence. Many JP sale dates are observed rather than exact.
Japanese chase singles firmed too: Lyleen SSP's JP median rose from $138 to $167 on a small sample (8 → 14 sales), while the same card's English median settled 5.6% lower.

The US–JP spread runs from 4.8x on Chillet SSP down to almost nothing on the gold Cattiva itself, which sells for $999.99 in English against roughly $952 in Japan on a smaller, medium-confidence sample.

Our read, and this is analysis rather than a number we measured: singles reprice fast because every box opened adds supply daily, while sealed is pricing a bet that first-print stock stays scarce.

The reprint decides it

No reprint has shipped yet, so every English sealed receipt we hold predates one. The scene has noticed: at least one channel spent today asking whether the Set 1 reprint has slipped, and Bushiroad's news page, which we swept today, shows no reprint announcement at all. What Bushiroad has said officially: 3.5 million packs sold worldwide as of July 9, three weeks before launch. BP02 "Legends Awaken" arrives October 30 with another 100-card set behind it.

Chase-card prices in a new TCG's launch window usually keep correcting as supply normalizes, and nothing in this week's data argues Palworld is the exception. Sealed is the harder call, because sealed is a bet on a date only Bushiroad has.

The singles number is not a bet. Forty-one completed sales have already voted on what a gold Cattiva is worth, and not one of them paid $4,000. Anybody quoting you that number this week is quoting you July.
